Pyrgillus cubanus Nyl.

Pyrgillocarpon cubanum (Nyl.) Nádv. ex Tibell, Beih. Nova Hedwigia 79: 676 (1984).

T: Cuba, C.Wright, Lich. Cub. 147, 148, 149; syn: BM.

  Thallus grey. Ascomata 0.4–0.6 mm diam., 0.5–0.8 mm tall. Ascomatal wall to 200 μm thick; ostiole whitish, 150–200 μm diam. Ascospores ellipsoidal, with rounded ends, median area dark, 7–10 × 5–7 μm, with 1 distoseptum and a darker centre indicating a euseptum, c. 2 μm thick; endospore to 2 μm thick.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus UV+ yellow; lichexanthone detected with TLC.
  Rare in north-eastern Qld; also on tree trunks in the West Indies, Java and Papua New Guinea.
