Tree to 10 m; branchlets glabrous. Leaves elliptic, ovate, oblong-ovate or obovate, obtuse to slightly acuminate, ±pungently serrate or subentire, slightly recurved, coriaceous; lamina 3–9 cm long, 1.3–3 cm wide, glabrous; base acutely cuneate or attenuate; secondary veins 5–8 pairs; petiole 2–5 mm long. Racemes axillary or lateral; pedicels 1.8–2.5 mm long. Sepals 5, rarely 4, broadly ovate, ±dentate, c. 0.8 mm long. Petals 5, rarely 4, oblong-ovate, 1.6–2 mm long. Stamens 5, rarely 4; filaments 0.5–0.7 mm long. Disc c. 1.2 mm diam. Ovary glabrous, 2-locular; style 0.7–0.8 mm long; stigma 2-lobed. Capsule globular or obovoid, 5–8 mm long, 4–5 mm diam., 2-valved. Seeds 1 or 2, surrounded by aril. Fig. 41E.

Occurs near Atherton, Qld, and from Biloela, Qld, to Dorrigo, N.S.W. Grows in near-coastal rainforest and open forest. Map 198.
