Becoming Natural

Australian National Botanic Gardens , Saturday 1 September 2007

Spend the day drawing, writing or reflecting in nature as we travel to different areas of the Gardens and explore feelings about nature (do we see it as a place to dream? a cathedral? a gymnasium? a machine? a place to conquer? a place to integrate with?) How do you regard your own nature? Is it the same or different from how you see nature ‘out there’? In a relaxed atmosphere, come and enjoy synthesising the natural within and the natural without. No special art experience necessary.

The cost per person is $65. Paper, charcoal, oil and soft pastels, and backing boards will be provided. If you have extra materials you would like to use, please bring them along. Bring water, sunscreen, a cut lunch (or lunch at the café.)

The facilitators

Micky Allan has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas and has work in all state and national galleries, as well as in many private collections. She has taught art for many years, both in tertiary institutions and other workshop situations, and presently teaches part time at the ANU School of Art.

Steenus von Steensen is a photographer, nurse and an experienced facilitator of art and meditation workshops. He has trained in art therapy with Cornelia Albrecht and believes strongly in the importance of nature in stimulating creativity.
