Field Trip

The whole-day field trip will explore the plant communities of Victoria's renowned Great Ocean Road and Otway National Park. Experience the diversity of coastal heathland communities, the cool serenity of moist , tree fern gullies and the grandeur of Mountain Ash forests. Share the passion and expert commentary of local conservations and the knowledge and convivial company of your fellow travellers. The spectacular southern coastline will be thrown in for free.

Conservation Techniques Workshops


Nationally and internationally renowned specialists in conservation of Australia's flora, ecological communities and habitats will conduct a series of Conservation Techniques Workshops. Around 20 on-site and field based workshops will be held (see provisional program). Presenters include researchers and practitioners from conservation agencies, botanic gardens, research institutions, zoos and community groups from across Australia. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to participate in these quality workshops.

These workshops are supported by the Australian Government Envirofund.

Social Program

  • Welcome reception, Monday 24th, 6.00pm. Hosted by City of Greater Geelong.
  • BBQ, Tuesday evening, 25th. Hosted by City Of Greater Geelong.
  • Conference dinner, Wednesday 26th. Kardinia Park, home of the famous Geelong Football Club.
  • Informal pizza night, Friday 28th. BYO. A chance for informal networking in a City of Greater Geelong civic venue.

The Geelong Conference Centre is situated within walking distance of the CBD in the magnificent surrounds of Eastern Park, adjacent to the Geelong Botanic Gardens.

Accommodation

Geelong Conference Centre, Adams Court, Eastern Park, East Geelong. 42 rooms @ $35 per person per night twin share, $55 pp pn single. Breakfast $14 cooked, $8.50 continental pd. Please book using the conference registration form and the conference organisers will handle the booking. Note: rooms are limited, so book early. No alcohol is allowed at the Geelong Conference Centre. Functions will be held at other venues.

Travel

Geelong is a one hour drive from Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport and Melbourne CBD.
