Background

Following enthusiastic discussion since the highly successful 1996 Melbourne meeting of the Australian Systematic Botany Society, a programme has been developed to provide a forum for some of the topical issues in systematics. For the first time in Australia , there will also be an attempt to introduce and assess software packages available to systematists.

In recognition of the common interests of the two groups, ASBS has invited the recently formed Society of Australian Systematic Biologists to participate.

The conferences will be held at the North Terrace campus of the University of Adelaide within easy walking distance of the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, the State Library, the Adelaide Zoo and the East End cafe/restaurant precinct (also the home of the Ngapartji Multimedia Centre).

Some associated meetings will be located at the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium or elsewhere within the University.

Come along and enjoy what we hope will be an informative exchange of information in relaxed and friendly surroundings in the Dining and Wining Capital of Australia.

Travel

All travel to be arranged by delegates, but remember that the weekend following the conference is a long weekend in SA, NSW and the ACT, and so travel arrangements may need to be made early.

Being away on a Saturday night is also cheaper when booking airfares and so bear in mind that there are activities planned for the Sunday of this conference.
