Born Aldridge, Staffordshire, England, 1800; died Hobart, Tas., 30 Oct. 1877
Solicitor, horticulturist. Arrived Tas. 11 Dec. 1831. Farmed unsuccessfully at Black Brush, then set up law practice in Hobart with G.Cartwright & later J.Roberts; lived at Aldridge Lodge, with 5-acre garden. Assisted at botanical garden. His wife Mary Morton (nee Chapman) (1806-95) painted miniatures & wildflowers around Hobart.
