Commenced with private collections of R.D.Seppelt in 1971.  Antarctic and subantarctic collections made under the auspices of the Commonwealth of Australia commenced in 1979.  Almost the entire Antarctic, Subantarctic, Australasian and Arctic collection has been made by R.D.Seppelt.
