Aril presence

The presence or absence of an aril, a fleshy or membranous extension of the funicle (stalk of the ovule). Where present, the aril is associated with the hilum (funicular scar), often as a  rim"encircling the point of the attachment of the funicle.

Absent or minute

An aril is not developed, or when present, is minute and inconspicuous.
