Mature plant height

The height (in metres) of fertile (flowering or fruiting) individuals . This character should be treated cautiously, and is of most value in separating very large from very small plants. This is because maturity (ie. the onset of flowering) is likely to be only weakly correlated with plant height, while the upper limit of mature plant height may be significantly extended by new collections. Therefore, it is advisable to include a range of heights (up to 50% above and below the height of the specimen) when using this character. Plant height should not be used when identifying plants with a climbing, twining or straggling habit.
