pictureThe Gardens Classroom

Join us for a day-long learning adventure! Our Gardens Classroom programs operate on a 3x1 hour activity rotation. We ask you to divide your class into 3 groups and Gardens education staff will lead 2 engaging activities, while the visiting Teacher leads the third. We will provide all the resources for a fun day, so only limited Teacher preparation is required.

In 2005 our Gardens Classroom theme is Water for Life. Designed to accommodate all school years, this hugely successful program has children engaged in real water science while being outdoors in the wonderful Gardens environment.

  • Our programs cost $5.50 per student and Teachers and support persons are free.

  • We can handle group sizes up to 75 students, so fill the bus for a cost-effective excursion.

Our Explainers are casual staff, trained in presenting programs to small groups of 10-12 students

Cost is $4 per student. Teachers and support persons free.

  • For interstate groups on a trip to Canberra we recommend "Around Oz in an Hour" to introduce students to the ANBG and the diversity of Australia's native plants.

  • There are also other topics from which to choose.

  • Explainers meet groups on arrival and deliver a brief introduction, organise storage of bags etc and divide the group into smaller units.
