Where Does It Grow Naturally?

Tallowwood is widely spread in Northern coastal N.S.W and Southeastern Q.L.D between the coast and the higher altitudes of the Great Dividing range. he best growth is attained in fertile gullies on Ehe edges of rain forest.

Size: Medium-sized to a very tall tree, commonly growing to 35 -6Om in height and a dbh of 1-2m sometimes exceeding 70m high and dbh of 3m.

Leaves: Laneeolate, 6-10cm long and 2-4cm wide; petiole yellowish to 2cm long; apex slenderly acuminate; base often oblique; mid-green above, paler beneath.

Bark:Rough and persistent the small branches, brown to red-brown, soft fibrous, often with surface pores and horizontal cracks on under layers.

Flowers, Fruits And Seeds: Borne in axillary umbells of 5-7 aggregating to a terminal panicle; buds slenderly club shaped 7-8 mm long, merging with the pedicels; 2-3 mm deep, hernispherical operculu m,yellowish-reen,fillerments white, anthers cream.Flowering time; Aug/Dec, Capsules barrel-shaped, 8-9 mm long,with trunicate apex, the valves only slightly prominent above the rim
