Xiphopteris Kaulf.
Small, erect or pendulous epiphytes. Rhizome dictyostelic, erect or ascending, short with densely crowded fronds towards the apex, scales minute, narrow, basally attached, entire +/- opaque brown. Fronds stipitate to subsessile, the stipes not articulate to the rhizome, lamina linear or elongate, +/- tapered at both ends, pinnatifid or pinnate with adnate contiguous pinnae, each pinnae with a single siimple or often once-forked vein, often thin and translucent, or thick and leathery, glabrescent, or with simple, glandular or non-glandular unicellular hairs, basal pinnae sterile, apical pinnae fertile. Sori solitary on each segment, mostly round when mature, receptacle generally elongate, terminal or subterminal on the acroscopic branch of a vein, superficial, exindusiate, parphyses lacking, sporangia on a uniseriate stalk, naked, annulus vertical, interrupted of c.8-16 thickened cells. Spores trilete.
