3.5.3 Student training

Background

The collections of the Gardens and the large body of professional and technical expertise held by the staff provide a potential training environment for tertiary students of botany. The Gardens has embarked on a scheme for senior botany students at the local universities: the scheme is designed to provide some formal instruction and an intensive period of work experience in a herbarium and research environment. The scheme operates during the summer vacation and has the support of the universities, one of which grants course credits for participation.
