Summer Concert Series at the Gardens extended!

The Australian National Botanic Gardens has extended it’s Summer Concert Series, following cancellations required during the fire emergency in January. To respond to popular demand, the concerts will continue beyond the weekend of 15 & 16 February to include the weekend of 22 & 23 February.

Saturday 15 February will feature the Big Band sounds of the Spectrum, Canberra City Showband on the Eucalypt Lawn, from 6.00 – 7:30 pm. The Tuggeranong Valley Community Band will perform on Sunday from 6.00 – 7:30 pm on the Café Lawn. Entry to the concerts is by gold coin donation to the Friends of the Gardens. Wine, beer and soft drinks can be purchased from the Friends of the Gardens at the concerts.

The final weekend of 22 & 23 February will feature Antiquity Jazz on Saturday evening and the Backbeat Drivers on Sunday evening.

Guided Walks

The Volunteer Guides of the Gardens will continue to take their "Feathers, Fur and Skin… so how do plants fit in’ guided twilight walks around the Gardens. Tours start at 6:00 pm each Wednesday evening and are free! Bookings are essential and can be made by calling the Visitor Centre on 6250 9540.

Free guided walks will also be conducted by the Volunteer Guides at 10:00am, 11:00am and 2:00 pm daily. Walks leave from the Visitor Centre and bookings are not necessary.

‘New Plantings in the Rainforest Gully’ Walk and Talk

A walk and talk titled "New Plantings in the Rainforest Gully" to be conducted by Gardens staff member Mr Toby Golson on Thursday 20 February will also showcase new work funded by the Friends. The Rainforest walk and talk is open to the public, however bookings are essential (Phone 6250 9540) and the Friends of the Gardens will collect gold coin donations upon entry.
