Twilight Forest Adventure

Start times 7pm or 7.30pm week days. Duration 1½ hours.

Cost: $8 per person (teachers free), with a minimum of $200 per group.
Students are divided into small groups of 15.
Maximum 80 people total.

This is a guided activity that explores the Gardens by night.

Join us for a fun evening by torchlight as we experience the sounds, smells and feel of the Gardens in the dark. You might be lucky to see one of our insectivorous bats silhouetted against the blue sky, or a sugar glider or possum out in search of food in the tree-tops.

Our guides will open the gates, lock you in for 90 minutes and engage you for a fun and memorable experience. The walk takes an hour and is followed by a hot drink and biscuits.

Great for individuals and families, class groups, scouts, guides and youth groups, and an alternative evening activity for visiting interstate school groups.

We provide ponchos, sustainable energy dynamo torches and rechargeable spotlights, and can also incorporate hands-on time with our Aboriginal artefacts over hot drink at the end of the evening. It's all included in the cost.

Maximum group size

For safety reasons we'd prefer to keep group size below 60 people total (inclusive of all students, adults and support persons). If your group is larger than 60, please talk with us about how we can accommodate you. Contact Education Services for assistance on (02) 6250 9408.

Planning your Twilight Forest Adventure

Please be punctual and arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time. The Gardens houses a scientific collection of plants, so the gates will be opened specifically for your arrival. Gardens staff ask for your understanding and appreciation of Gardens security in relation to your arrival and departure.

Dinners can be arranged prior to the tour at Hudson's Café in the Gardens. Phone: 6248 9680.
