Visiting the Gardens

The Gardens offers everything for a perfect family day out, a quiet relaxing stroll, formal scientific research and botanical study.   

Enjoy a range of walking trails to suit all tastes and abilities, interesting plants and animals, educational activities, a Botanical Resource Centre, lawns for running and playing, numerous picnic tables and a cafe and bookshop. 

Entry to the Gardens is free, but $3.80 per hour or $16.00 per day parking fees apply when using the on-site carpark.  [map and bus route ]

Opening times

The Gardens are open daily from 8.30am to 5.00pm, except Christmas Day.
The gates are locked when the Gardens are closed.
Please note: For public safety in dangerous or potentially dangerous weather conditions, such as high winds or high fire danger, Gardens' staff may decide to close parts of the Gardens.

Visitor Centre

Hours: 9:30am to 4:30pm 7 days (Closed Christmas Day). More information

The Botanical Bookshop

Hours: 9:30am to 4:30pm 7 days (Closed Christmas Day). More information

Pollen Café

Spring hours 9.00am to 4.00pm daily (Closed Christmas Day). More information

Jindii Eco Spa

Spa hours: Monday–Wednesday 8 am–5 pm Thursday: 8 am–8 pm Friday–Saturday: 8 am–5 pm Sunday: Closed (Closed Christmas Day). More information

Visitor Code

  • Please leave the Gardens as you found them so that everyone may enjoy our beautiful collection.
  • Please draw, or take photographs of your favourite flowers and plants for a lasting souvenir.
  • We invite you to picnic on the lawns, smell the flowers and talk to the animals!
  • Be safe in the Gardens. Walk on the paths and look out for those less sure-footed than you.
  • To encourage native wildlife in the Gardens to eat a healthy natural diet, please do not feed them.
  • To discourage animals that damage the collection there are no rubbish bins in the Gardens - please take your rubbish home with you or use the bins in the car park.

     Prohibitions

  • To protect our special collection the following are not permitted within the Gardens: ball games, frisbees, kites, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, BBQs and fires.
  • Domestic pets, including dogs (other than those registered as guide dogs, hearing dogs or other assistance dogs), are not permitted in the Gardens.
  • Horses are not permitted in the Gardens.
