Leptospermum squarrosum      family MYRTACEAE

photo

(Syn. L. persiciflorum)

Erect shrub to 2.5 m high by 1.5 m across. Leaves are lanceolate, to 1.5 cm. Pale to deep pink flowers, on old wood, are profuse in autumn and winter.

Distribution: NSW.

Propagation From seed or cuttings. Cuttings should be used to preserve colour forms.

Cultivation See note on genus. Very hardy plant and a good off-season flowerer. Care should be taken when pruning, as heavy cutting will reduce the following year's flowers. Flowers well in the subtropics.
