Use our Horizon catalogue to search for books and journals held within the Environment Australia libraries. Connect to the Catalogue and then "Select search option"

• General Keyword Use when you want a broad search, where the words you select may occur anywhere in the catalogue record. Use also when you want to search for combinations of author/title/publisher/date etc.
• Title Keyword Use when you know one or more words from the title.
• Author Keyword Use when you know an author's surname or an organisation's name.
• Subject Keyword Use when you want all the books on a particular subject. Note that standardised words are used which are American in origin. For example to search for "Biodiversity" the term used in Horizon is "Biological Diversity". If no records are found, try a Title Keyword or General Keyword search.

• Browsing You can also search and browse alphabetical lists of titles, authors or subjects by selecting Title Alphabetical, etc. For example if you select Subject Alphabetical and search for Norfolk Island you will display a list of all subjects that start with Norfolk Island. Note that other subjects that include the term Norfolk Island are not on this list as the subject term does not commence with the words 'Norfolk Island'. If you do not retrieve what you expected try a Subject Keyword search.

Search results

• Records are automatically displayed in brief format. To view the full record click on the magnifying glass icon.
• If more than 10 records are returned from your search then you will need to scroll back to the top of the page and click on "next" to the display the next 10 records.
• A maximum limit of 500 records can be displayed.
• Highlighted text provides links to related records. By clicking on the highlighted term you can find related records. For example clicking on a highlighted author's name will link to a list of other books by that author.
• If you want your results sorted by publication date or in alphabetical order, scroll down to "Sort Results By:" box. You can select to list results in ascending order (A-Z or 1900-1998) or descending order (Z-A or 1998-1900). These options must be selected before you start your search.
