Low Closed Forests and Tall Closed Shrublands
- Characterised by dense foliage in the upper
layers and by low stunted species usually
between 5m to 10m in height - sometimes
referred to as 'scrub'.
- Occur in a range of climatic zones including
coastal or subcoastal environments and alpine
environments in Tasmania.
- Support a large range of species—dominated by the genera Banksia, Leptospermum and Kunzea or by Melaleuca with a mix of other species.
Extensive areas have been cleared in many coastal areas for agriculture or urban development.
