MANGROVES

Lear, R. & T. Turner Mangroves of Australia Uni Qld Press, 1977. [Colour photos and line illustrations of many species.]

Semeniuk, V. et al. Mangroves of Western Australia W.A. Naturalists Club, Perth, 1978. (90 pp.) [Field-guide sized. Discussion of the mangrove communities and ecology, keys to species, moderately detailed (but not overly technical) descriptions. good line drawings, and lists of localities. Good value.]

Wightman, G.M. Mangroves of the Northern Territory Conservation Commission of N.T., 1989. (129 pp.). [Provides two keys, one for field use (based on vegetative characters) and one for herbarium use (requiring fertile material). A fold-out identification chart is a very useful adjunct. Contains descriptions and line drawings of all species, and includes all plants of mangrove type (so relevant species of ferns, palms, and grasses are treated). Brief introductory sections cover floristics, conservation, biogeography.
