Description:

Tree to 20 m. Juvenile leaves linear to lanceolate, blue-green to glaucous, slightly discolorous. Adult leaves lanceolate; lamina 10-18 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, dull, blue-green; petiole 10-22 mm long. Peduncle 5-6 mm long; pedicels 1-3 mm long. Buds ovoid or rarely clavate; operculum hemispherical to conical, 2-3 mm long, 2-4 mm wide; hypanthium obconical to hemispherical, c. 2 mm long, 2-4 mm wide. Fruits hemispherical to ovoid, 5-7 mm long, 4-6 mm wide; disc convex.

Common name:

Mottled Gum.

Distribution:

Occurs from N of Murrurundi, N.S.W., southwards to the Dargo area, Vic., in hilly and tableland areas in open forest.

Notes:

Distinguished from subsp. elliptica by the narrow juvenile leaves and shorter peduncle, and from subsp. praecox in the usually broader adult leaves and the non-glaucous buds.
