See behind the scenes at Australia's largest scientific collection of preserved plant specimens.

Learn about plant names and how to identify plants. Explore the world of mosses, and fungi. See specimens actually collected on Captain Cook's 1770 expedition to Australia.

9.30 am to 4.30 pm

 

Displays and demonstrations.

10am, 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm

Open Days

Come and see the Australian National Botanic Gardens Nursery. This is a place where all of the plants growing in the Gardens are produced.

 

Learn about potting media, our misting houses and plant production methods used behind the scenes at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

10.00 am to 3.00 pm

Nursery staff will be conducting tours on the hour: 10am,11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

Getting There

By car, we suggest you enter via Frith Steet, off Barry Drive, at the back of CSIRO's Black Mtn Laboratories.
or
you can walk through the Botanic Gardens, the route will be clearly signposted on the days.

Parking near the Nursery or near the Herbarium within CSIRO site.
