  As var. simplicatum, but asci 2-spored and ascospores 32–66 × 14–28 µm.
     
  Known from arid and semi-arid areas of W.A., S.A., N.S.W. and Vic. as well as cool-temperate parts of the south-eastern mainland States and Tas.; also in eastern Qld.
