Henshall, Thomas Sharland (1925 - 2020)
Born in northern Victoria 25 December 1925, died Ulladulla, NSW, 19 December 2020
Tom Henshall grew up in the Murray Valley area of Victoria and eventually ran an orchard there.
He started collecting for the National Herbarium of Victoria in 1964.
In the mid-1970s he applied for a herbarium technician position in Alice Springs and moved there to work for the Northern Territory Herbarium until about 1990.
He had an interest in Chenopodeaceae and was also encouraged by Peter Latz to collect the genus Bergia (Elatinaceae) for Greg Leach. The plant Bergia henshallii was named by Leach in his honour in 1989.
He loved playing the piano and was a collector of ceramics.
