Born in Launceston, Tas., 20 May 1848; drowned in Cataract Gorge, Tas. 23 January 1889.
One of six children, to the merchant Philip Oakden (1784-1851), and Georgina nee Cowie (d.1889).

North Esk River, 1887; and
Circular Head, Feb. 1888.
Emma drowned in Cataract Gorge in 1889 aged 51.
