Annotation slip

All annotations to specimens are made on special dated slips attached to the herbarium sheet, and not on the sheet itself, the label or other annotation slips.

Annotations can include reidentifications or determinavits, confirmations of identity or confirmavits, or any other comments about the plant specimen or its identity.

Most herbaria insist that all annotations be made in permanent archival quality ink on archival quality paper slips.
