  Thallus to 6 cm wide, adnate, membranous; ridges irregular, radiating, often anastomosing. Lobes broad, imbricate. Upper surface smooth or with small depressions, matt, olive-green; margin entire; isidia absent. Apothecia abundant, to 1.5 mm wide, laminal, sessile; base constricted; disc flat to slightly concave, red to dark red, grey-pruinose, pruina sometimes disappearing; thalline exciple thin, entire or finely crenulate, smooth or wrinkled, not prominent, persistent. Asci 65–95 × 15–20 µm. Ascospores 34–65 × 4–6 µm, fusiform, ends acute, sometimes one end extended, 6–10-celled, sometimes constricted. Pycnidia abundant, to 200 µm wide; pycnidial gel hyaline or yellow. Conidia 4–6 × 1 µm, slightly swollen towards ends.
  A tropical species known from SE Asia, W Africa, northern Qld and Lord Howe Is.
