  Thallus foliose, adnate, to 6 cm wide. Lobes imbricate or not, irregular, irregularly branched, 1–3 mm wide; margins shiny, often black. Upper surface yellow-green, broadly undulating, shiny, appearing subgranulate in centre, emaculate, without soredia; isidia numerous, laminal, simple, wart-like, globose or shortly cylindrical, small (to 0.3 mm high); isidia apices syncorticate and entire. Medulla white. Lower surface flat, brown to dark brown, with lobe apices black-brown; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, simple, short, concolorous. Apothecia rare, subpedicellate, to 4 mm wide; disc convex, brown to pale brown; thalline exciple involute at first, entire, persistent, densely isidiate. Ascospores 8–10 × 4–6 µm. Pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P+ red-orange; containing usnic acid, protocetraric acid (major) and virensic acid (minor).
     
  Rare, endemic, known only from the type locality. Grows on rock.
