Porina alba (R.Sant.) Lücking

  Thallus epiphyllous, usually comprising small round patches that can coalesce to form extensive colonies, pale grey-green to yellowish grey, smooth to minutely uneven, dull to slightly glossy; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells angular, irregular or long-rectangular, some clusters of cells radiating, but not forming large radiating plates. Whitish short-stalked deeply concave disciform isidia common, to 0.1 (–0.15) mm diam. Perithecial verrucae at first applanate, later convex to subconical with a gradually spreading base, 0.35–0.6 (–0.7) mm diam.; wall containing a layer of colourless crystals; apex ±plane to rounded; ostiole usually inconspicuous; periostiolar area concolorous, pale reddish brown or brown-black. Involucrellum apical and ±vestigial. Exciple c. 10–12 µm thick, pale yellowish brown. Asci mostly narrowly cylindrical, 85–110 × 10–14 µm. Ascospores ±bacilliform, 7-septate, 35–48 × 3–4.5 µm; apices obtuse to subacute, often with a distinctly more acute proximal apex; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. Porina alba map
  Occurs in north-eastern Qld; grows on the leaves of shrubs and trees in lowland rainforest. Also in the Neotropics, West and East Africa, SE Asia and New Guinea.
