  Thallus epiphloeodal, continuous to rimose, pale brownish green, matt to slightly glossy, smooth to minutely rugulose, 40–80 µm thick, ecorticate; prothallus not apparent. Algae Trentepohlia; cells 6–12 × 6–10 µm. Perithecia superficial, hemispherical to subglobose, 0.3–0.5 mm diam., reddish brown; apex rounded; ostiole usually inconspicuous. Involucrellum contiguous with the exciple, these diverging near the base, to 60 µm thick, containing algae, K–. Exciple c. 25–30 µm thick, pale orange-brown. Centrum 0.2–0.33 mm wide. Asci elongate-cylindrical, 113–160 × 14–18 µm. Ascospores elongate-cylindrical, 15-septate, 58–97 × 4–6 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen.
     
  Very rare in Tas., on bark in cool-temperate rainforest. Also on siliceous rocks in New Zealand.
