  Nova Hedwigia 58: 397 (1994). T: 100 m WNW of Memana turnoff from the Emita–Palana road, Flinders Is., Bass Strait, Tas., 12 Apr. 1969, J.S.Whinray s.n.; holo: MEL; iso: HO.  
     
  Thallus endophloeodal to epiphloeodal, continuous, pale to medium grey-brown, matt, smooth to minutely uneven, 30–60 µm thick, ecorticate; prothallus not apparent. Algae Trentepohlia; cells 6–22 × 6–18 µm. Perithecia two-thirds immersed to superficial, hemispherical to subglobose, 0.27–0.43 mm diam., greyish black to green-black; apex rounded; ostiole inconspicuous. Involucrellum contiguous with the exciple, 45–70 µm thick, with a yellow-brown to medium brown inner layer (thin section), not enclosing algae, K–. Exciple 25–35 µm thick, hyaline to pale brown. Centrum 0.2–0.27 mm wide. Asci elongate-cylindrical, 145–165 × 14–20 µm. Ascospores elongate-fusiform, often broader towards distal end, (11–) 17 (–21)-septate, 41–73 × 6–9.5 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen.
     
  Endemic to Tas.; grows on the bark of shrubs and small trees on islands in Bass Strait.
