| Thallus rosette-forming, radiating, orbicular, 2–6 cm wide, on a thick, felted, cottony, brown-black prothallus projecting 2–6 mm beyond lobe apices, closely appressed to substratum. Lobes narrow, 0.5–1.2 mm wide, discrete at margins, contiguous at margins or from margins to centre or often ±confluent without visible division between lobes, to minutely lobulate-imbricate centrally, flat or subconvex; margins entire, slightly thickened, occasionally somewhat ascendant, sometimes white-frosted. Upper surface blotched (x10 lens), smooth, occasionally striate, without isidia, leaden grey when wet, pale grey-fawn to pinkish brown when dry. Apothecia common, aggregated towards centre, 0.4–1.2 mm wide, rounded; disc flat, red-brown; thalline exciple thick, persistent, smooth to delicately crenulate, concolorous with thallus. Ascospores 12–16 × 8–10 µm. CHEMISTRY: rarely with ursolic acid. | ||
| Occurs on bark. A tropical-subtropical species of lowland rainforest. In Australia, apparently restricted to Qld and Norfolk Is. | ||
