Flavoparmelia succinprotocetrarica Elix & J.Johnst.
  Mycotaxon 33: 398 (1988). T: Kroombit Tops State Forest, Qld, 3 Sept. 1985, R.W.Rogers 7926; holo: MEL.  
  Thallus adnate, thin, fragile, to 3–5 cm wide. Lobes becoming laterally imbricate, contiguous or not, flat, 1–5 mm wide; margins crenulate; apices rotund. Upper surface yellow to pale yellow-green, flat to somewhat undulating, dull to slightly shiny, with reticulate, white maculae towards lobe apices, without dactyls and isidia; soralia laminal on lobes at first, erumpent-pustulate, subcapitate at first, but coalescing and spreading over upper surface; soredia granular. Medulla mostly white, with yellow-orange zone adjacent to lower cortex. Lower surface with sparse rhizines; rhizines short, simple or tufted. Apothecia not seen. Pycnidia rare. Conidia weakly bifusiform, 4–6 × 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P+ brick red; pigmented lower medulla K+ claret; containing usnic acid, succinprotocetraric acid (major), fumarprotocetraric acid (trace), protocetraric acid (minor), ±caperatic acid, ±atranorin, euplectin (major in pigmented medulla), virensic acid (trace) and unidentified compound (trace).
  Rare, endemic, occurs on bark and rock in south-eastern Qld.
