  Thallus foliose, adnate, to 5 cm wide. Lobes sparingly imbricate, separate, sublinear-elongate, dichotomously branched, 0.8–1.5 mm wide, elobulate; cilia sparse to moderately dense, commonly vestigial and subglobose to globose, to 0.3 mm long, black and inflated at base, paler towards apices. Upper surface yellow-green, flat to convex, smooth, weakly maculate; older lobes dull; lobe apices shiny; isidia moderately dense to dense, short, cylindrical, irregularly inflated, simple or rarely sparingly branched. Lower surface pale tan; rhizines dimorphous; primary rhizines moderately dense to dense, mottled black and pale tan; secondary rhizines developing from primary rhizines or directly from lower surface, slender, densely branched and becoming agglutinated, pale, concolorous. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K- or K+ brown, C-, KC+ red, P+ brick red; containing usnic acid, succinprotocetraric acid (major), fumarprotocetraric acid (minor) and protocetraric acid (trace).
  Endemic and rare in north Qld, growing on bark of mangroves.
