  Thallus small-foliose, tightly adnate, to 1.5 cm wide. Lobes contiguous, crowded but sparingly imbricate, sublinear, subdichotomously branched, short, 0.6–1 mm wide, lacking lobules; axils acute (less than 30°); cilia moderately dense, conspicuous, globose to tapering, unbranched, to 0.4 mm long. Upper surface yellow-green, flat, slightly shiny, smooth, emaculate, without isidia. Lower surface jet black; rhizines sparse, simple or sparingly branched, black. Apothecia rare, to 1 mm wide; disc ±flat, pale brown to brown; thalline exciple apparently ecoronate (but may be immature), retrorsely rhizinate. Ascospores broadly ellipsoidal, 5–6 × 4.5 µm. Pycnidia punctiform, immersed. Conidia bifusiform, 7–9 × 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K+ pale yellow, C+ faint orange, KC-, P+ orange; containing usnic acid, echinocarpic acid (major), conechinocarpic acid (minor) and hirtifructic acid (trace).
     
  Known only from the type collection, from bark of Ceriopssp. in a mangrove community with crocodiles, from Cape York Peninsula, Qld. Endemic.
