Xanthoparmelia weberiella Elix
     
  in Elix & Kantvilas, Mycotaxon 73: 451 (1999). T: Northern Territory: south face of Mt Olga near Katatjuta Lookout, 25°18'S, 130°45'E, 630 m, on conglomerate rocks with a southerly aspect, J. A. Elix 11094 & L. A. Craven, 10 Sept. 1983; holo: CANB.  
     
  Thallus foliose, tightly adnate to adnate, to 7 cm wide.  Lobes imbricate or not, subirregular, irregularly branched, 0.8-3.0 mm wide, laciniae lacking; apices generally crenate or shallowly notched.  Upper surface yellow-green, shiny at least at the margins, flat, emaculate or indistinctly maculate in places, smooth, isidiate, lacking soredia; isidia laminal, moderately dense to dense, globose to short cylindrical, simple or sparingly branched, expanding laterally; isidia apices epicorticate, becoming inflated and ±erumpent, not sorediate.  Medulla white.  Lower surface shiny, pale tan to brown, darkening near the apices of the lobes; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, slender, simple, concolorous.  Apothecia very rare, subpedicellate, 2-4 mm wide; disc deeply concave and then ±flat, dark brown; thalline exciple isidiate.  Ascospores ellipsoid, 10-12 x 5-6 µm.  Pycnidia rare, black, immersed.  Conidia bifusiform, 5-7 x 0.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K-, UV-;  medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-;  containing usnic acid, hypoprotocetraric acid (major), conhypoprotocetraric acid (minor), ±constipatic acid, ±protoconstipatic acid, ±scabrosin 4,4'-diacetate, ±scabrosin 4-acetate 4'-butyrate, ±scabrosin 4,4'-dibutyrate, ±scabrosin 4-acetate 4'-hexanoate, ±unknowns (trace).
     
  Xanthoparmelia weberiella is a widespread species in the arid and subarid inland areas of Australia (W.A., S.A., N.T. and Qld).
