  Thallus small-foliose, tightly adnate, to 3 cm wide. Lobes separate, barely imbricate, ±flat, irregular to sublinear-elongate, subdichotomously branched, (0.2–) 0.5–0.8 mm wide. Upper surface pale grey to grey, flat, shiny and black-margined towards lobe apices, becoming dull, emaculate, smooth, lacking soredia and isidia. Lower surface smooth, black, with a ±narrow, brown zone at lobe apices; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, simple, black. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K+ pale yellow-brown, C-, P+ red-orange; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin and protocetraric acid (major).
     
  An endemic species known from two hinterland localities in north Qld.
