  Thallus foliicolous, 10–15 mm wide, adnate, smooth, dull, grey to whitish grey, with scattered paler and slightly raised areas, c. 0.1 mm thick; isidia and globose granules absent. Prothallus indistinct, byssoid, mainly of radiating hyphae, white. Photobiont cells solitary or a few cells aggregated, 8–12 × 6–9 μm. Medulla distinct, white. Ascigerous parts common, confined to white slightly raised areas. Asci weakly aggregated, fragile, 1-spored, but often empty. Ascospores ovoid and often slightly constricted just below the middle, 40–60 × 17–25 μm. Pycnidia not seen.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C+ red, KC+ red, P–, UV+ pale grey-white; containing gyrophoric acid (major), lecanoric acid (minor).
     
  Known only from the type locality in north-eastern Qld.
