  Thallus off-white, thick, smooth, somewhat glossy. Ascomata black, inconspicuous, numerous, crowded, immersed, straight, curved or sinuous, sometimes branched, 1–2 mm long, 0.10–0.15 mm wide; lips closed or sometimes becoming slightly open. Proper exciple laterally or almost completely carbonised. Hymenium 100–125 µm thick, not inspersed. Ascospores 8 per ascus, transversely (9–) 10–14 (–15)-locular, (45–) 50–65 × 8–12 µm, I+ blue.
CHEMISTRY: Stictic acid (major), hypostictic acid (trace).
     
  Corticolous in Qld and N.S.W.; also in the Philippines and Norfolk Island.
