About the artist

Duncan Smith is an acclaimed visual, musical and performing artist based in the ACT.

A proud Wiradjuri man and father of five, Duncan engages indigenous and non-indigenous audiences through his art.

He won the 2003 Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Artist of the Year Award, and is the great-nephew of Tracker Riley, the first Aboriginal sergeant in the NSW police force. He has a vision of a brighter future ahead. "You hear about businesses employing Indigenous people; I want to hear about Indigenous bosses employing non-Indigenous staff. I want to see more Indigenous people in politics. I want my kids to travel the world, own the world, fit in to every part of it.
